Have you ever had a hectic schedule that doesn’t seem to agree with your BJJ training? Perhaps you have car issues keeping you from the gym? Maybe your boss has asked you stay late?
We’ve all been there.
Luckily, there is a way to use the internet and technology to your training advantage!
A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gold Mine At The Tips Of Your Fingers
In the year 2014, technology has become a corner stone of our everyday existence. For better or for worse, it’s a fact that all of us must accept.
However, a benefit to this technology boom for us Brazilian Jiu Jitsu junkies is that the access and availability to the sport has never been so high before! Between DVDs, .pdfs’, online courses, YouTube, etc. there is so much content waiting for us.
Being on the road constantly, I have found that using the internet and various online resources to be highly beneficial when it comes to my training habits.
Between smart phones, tablets and laptops, we’re literally moments away from any BJJ related content that we want to access! Just a quick click away and you get golden videos like these.
Or anyone of these incredibly helpful videos on YouTube.
No longer is our only option hopping in the car and driving to the gym in poor conditions or traffic, we can study, learn and even train from home, a hotel room, or another type of gym. With endless possibilities, the technology boom has really revolutionized the sport and how you train.
In my early days in the sport, I remember lugging around books and DVDs just in case I needed to use them. Now, with the swipe or click of a button, that same content is right in the palm of my hand. Eliminating Excuses And Turning Them Into Opportunities
As an instructor myself, I pride my gym on having fantastic attendance at our classes. Granted, I understand fully when people can’t make it, simply because the saying “life happens” is very true.
Be it you had to stay late at work, your child/loved one is sick, car problems, etc. Valid reasons arise all the time, preventing people from training and getting better at the gym.
However, given the access that so many of us have now, when you miss a class at the gym, you now have the opportunity to make it up from your home! With many academies, you can find the curriculum online rather easily, and with the right attire and enough space, you can train right on the spot!
Eliminating the obstacles that stand in your way from training is something that can help take you to the next level. While it may not be the most efficient session you’ll have, it’s still better than just sitting around waiting for the next class to start.
If you have car issues or are in the midst of a bad stretch of weather, you may be waiting a week till the next mat session roles around! Those hours spent waiting and waiting can add up, and before you know it, you’ll be far behind your peers.
Leveraging online resources can do wonders for your game. Training through the internet isn’t just a fad that will slowly fizzle out; it’s a legitimate training option that will help you take your game to the next level.
