Rafael “Sapo” Natal will have a new opponent for UFC 133 on August 6, as Riki Fukuda suffered a serious leg injury in a car accident.
“I was in a car accident. The doctor said I fractured my left knee and shin bone. It looks like surgery is needed, so I can’t participate in August. Sorry to my fans, everyone who supported me, my opponent and the UFC officials. I’ll still go hard!”
This was posted on Fukuda’s Twitter account following the accident.
Sapo has confirmed, also through Twitter, his new opponent will be Constantinos Philippou, who will be making his second appearance in the Octagon. Philippou is coming off a tough loss to Nick Catone, who stopped his eight fight win streak. It wasn’t a bad showing for Constantinos, as he took his UFC debut fight on a weeks notice.
Natal is coming off a tough start to his UFC career. He is 0-1-1 in the UFC with a tough decision loss in his debut to Rich Attonito in his UFC debut and a majority draw in his second appearance against Jesse Bongfeldt. “Sapo” is looking to get his first win in the Octagon, and add a win to his 12-3-1 record.
