Sonnen Eyes Possible Return in October
First reported by Heavy.com and Sherdog.com, Chael Sonnen is rumored to return to the Octagon October 8th at UFC 136 in Houston, Texas.
It is rumored that Sonnen will make his much anticipated return against up and comer Brian Stann at the Houston event, which still has not been officially announced.
Chael Sonnen has not seen action since his loss to current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva. Everything fell apart for the Oregon native in the 5th and final round of his bout against Silva in August of 2010. After dominating the champion for 4 rounds, Sonnen found himself tapping to a triangle armbar with just 1:50 left in the final round. Following the loss, Sonnen immediately had to answer to failed drug testing and faced a six month suspension from the California State Athletic Commission. When all seemed said and done, Sonnen once again found himself in court answering to money laundering charges.
Brian Stann has been on a tear since his loss to Phil Davis, with 3 straight finishes, including TKO’s of Chris Leben and Jorge Santiago. With a victory of highly ranked Sonnen, Stann could find himself as the number one contender for the title after this exciting bout.
