UFC 137 Headlined by St. Pierre-Diaz Matchup.

“U wanted it! U GOT IT!!! GSP vs DIAZ Oct 29th UFC 137 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.” – Dana White via Twitter.

The tweet heard round the MMA world was typed today by Mr. White himself, making the first UFC VS. Strikeforce matchup a dream come true. UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will face Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz in October at UFC 137.

Since Zuffa acquired Strikeforce in March, much talk has been made of dream matches, especially this one in particular. However, Nick Diaz made known his intentions to focus on boxing, which brought the chatter to a mere whisper. Then, on May 23, Nick Diaz’s boxing promoter, made a public announcement that Diaz will continue to focus on his MMA career as he was given the “opportunity of a lifetime.”

GSP will be entering this fight on an impressive nine fight win streak, leaving virtually no one in the welterweight division to challenge his incredibly improved boxing and always solid ground game. Diaz will be boasting a ten fight win streak, his latest victory being an impressive first round TKO of Paul Daley.

  1. GSP is too strong and has a better ground game. GSP can take you down and kickbox with you he is the perfect package and always evolving. Nick is too caught up on show casing his boxing now.

  2. Man, I’m super excited about this fight. George St. Pierre is Gracie Barra, so he will have my support. I have always liked Nick as a fighter, and I would be lying if I didn’t say I thought he had a good shot. George seems unstoppable, but as we all know, no one is unstoppable. All I can say is get ready for the fireworks!

  3. yeah!!! let’s see how that one goes!
