This is a Hudson Valley martial arts favorite – a very under-appreciated position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the “wrap around”. I’ve been experimenting with this position since I was a purple belt. Different schools call it different things, I’ve heard it called the “howdy doody” position before. I first saw this move in a Jean Jacques Machado instructional and experienced it on the mat at the hands of Renzo Gracie Black Belt Rob Constance.
If you have trouble finishing the choke then there is a D’Arce transition available to you as well (a favorite of my friends at Tampa Gracie)
